Uniforms Made Easy: Navigating St Joseph's School Dress Code

Posted by Topher Winters on 9th Jul 2023

Hey there, St Joseph's parents and carers! We understand that a great school uniform not only fosters pride and a sense of community but also helps to support inclusion and looks smart. So, let's do a quick and easy break-down of the uniform policy for the Federation of St Joseph's Junior, Infant, and Nursery Schools.

First things first, parents, it's your responsibility to ensure your child has the correct uniform and PE kit, all clean and in good repair. Don't forget to add one of these handy name labels on all items!

Now, let's talk accessories. Although most jewellery is unacceptable and inappropriate for school, children can wear a sensible watch and a pair of small plain stud earrings. As for hairstyles, keep it school-appropriate—no designs cut into the hair, please. Long hair or hair covering the face should be tied back, and any headbands, beads, or hair bobbles should be in school colours.

The school's governing body and the Headteacher work together to ensure that the uniform policy is fair and adheres to equal opportunity regulations. They also consider any requests from parents for individual children to have special dispensation regarding the school uniform. Regular reviews and monitoring of the policy are carried out to ensure it remains effective and relevant.

As a school community, St Joseph's is committed to promoting equality, and they believe their uniform policy aligns with the Equality Act 2010. They strive to make sure the policy is fair, does not prioritize or disadvantage any pupil, and helps promote equality at the school.

So, there you have it! The uniform policy for the Federation of St Joseph's Junior, Infant, and Nursery Schools is designed to create a smart, practical, and inclusive environment for all students.
